Sleepy FAQs

Indica strains and indica-leaning hybrids with higher myrcene content are the cannabis most often described as sleepy. CBN-containing products — especially edibles and tinctures with added CBN — are also widely associated with drowsy effects. Look for product copy that mentions “nighttime,” “PM,” or “rest.”

Myrcene and linalool are the terpenes most often associated with sleepy effects. CBN, a cannabinoid that forms as THC ages, is also widely cited for drowsiness. Many Massachusetts products specifically formulate THC + CBN edibles for nighttime use.

Edibles and tinctures are the most common picks for sleepy use because they last 4-6 hours. Take an edible 45-90 minutes before bed; tinctures placed under the tongue work faster (15-30 minutes). Some people also use a small amount of flower or vape closer to bedtime.

Evening — usually 45-90 minutes before you plan to be in bed if it’s an edible, or 15-30 minutes if it’s a vape or tincture. Cannabis affects sleep quality differently than alcohol — some people feel rested, others report different dream patterns. Pay attention to how your body responds.
