Pure Oasis opened in Grove Hall in 2020 as the first recreational cannabis shop in Boston, and the first Black-owned dispensary in Massachusetts. It was an Economic Empowerment business, and for a lot of people in Dorchester and Roxbury it was the first dispensary that felt like it belonged to the neighborhood.
In April 2026 the company closed its Grove Hall and downtown Boston locations. Its bank accounts had been frozen over unpaid state taxes, and around 60 people lost their jobs.
That matters to us. Lowkey is a Social Equity business too, and we know how thin the margins are for shops like ours. This page isn’t a victory lap — it’s here because people are still searching for a dispensary in that part of the city, and we’d rather give them a straight answer than nothing.
Lowkey opened in Codman Square in 2023 before moving to West Roxbury. Same family, same crew, same neighborhood roots.
A Massachusetts Social Equity business owned by Jeff and Laura Similien — not a chain, and not backed by out-of-state money.
Walk in and ask anything. Real advice from people who know the shelf, and who never talk down to you.
Daily deals and rewards on every visit — not just a first-time discount that disappears after one order.
